What is MLS® price history?

MLS® price history is the public record of every time a property was listed, re-listed, price-changed, sold, or expired on the Multiple Listing Service®. It shows the listing dates, the asking prices, and (when a sale happens) the sold price and sold date. On Zealty, we surface this history for homes in the BC regions we cover, so you can see exactly how a listing has moved over time instead of relying on the most recent snapshot alone.

Why does price history matter when buying or selling?

Price history tells you the real story behind a listing. A home that's been re-listed three times in eighteen months at a steadily lower price is a very different situation than one that just hit the market. Buyers can spot motivated sellers and overpriced listings; sellers can pressure-test their own pricing strategy against comparable homes nearby. For investors and agents, price history is essential context for any negotiation. It shows market reception, days on market across cycles, and the gap between asking and sold prices.

Is the price history on Zealty free to view?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A free Zealty account unlocks the full MLS® pricing history for every listing on the site, including sold prices, sold dates, and previous listings of the same property. There are no paid tiers and we never charge per-lookup. We only ask for a free sign-up so we can keep this data behind a basic gate. The MLS® data agreements we operate under require that sold prices and historic listing data not be publicly indexable.

Which properties have price history available?

Properties in the BC regions we cover (Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Chilliwack and Hope, the Sea-to-Sky corridor including Squamish, Whistler, and Bowen Island, and the Sunshine Coast) with at least one MLS® listing event since 2003 will have price history on Zealty. That covers the vast majority of single-family homes, townhomes, and condos in those markets. We don't currently surface sold price history for Vancouver Island or the BC Interior. For brand-new builds with no prior MLS® activity, price history may show only the current listing. As soon as more events accrue, they'll appear automatically.

How current is the price history data?

Accepted Answer

Our MLS® feed updates throughout the day, so price changes, new listings, and sold notices typically appear on Zealty within hours of being recorded on the source MLS® board. For sold listings, the final sale price posts as soon as the board reports it, usually within a day of completion.
